SnapYummy ("we," "us," or "our") operates the SnapYummy mobile application and website (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Account information: When you create an account, we collect your name, username, email address, and password (stored securely, never in plain text).
Content you provide: Photos and videos you upload ("snaps"), captions, restaurant tags, ratings, reviews, and any other content you post.
Location information: With your permission, we collect your device's location to show nearby restaurants, promotions, and to improve restaurant tagging accuracy. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings.
Device and usage information: Device type, operating system, app version, push notification tokens, and how you interact with the Service (pages viewed, features used).
Restaurant business information: If you register a business account, we collect your restaurant's name, address, contact details, menu, photos/videos, and billing information (processed by our third-party payment processor — we do not store your full payment card details).
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
- Show you relevant restaurants, promotions, and content
- Send you notifications about friend activity, streaks, and offers (you can manage these in Settings)
- Process restaurant business subscriptions and payments
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service
- Improve and develop new features
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these circumstances:
With other users: Your username, profile photo, snaps, and public activity are visible to other users according to your privacy settings.
Service providers: We use third-party services to operate SnapYummy, including Supabase (database and backend hosting), Google (Places and Maps data), Yelp (restaurant data), Anthropic (AI-assisted content processing), Expo (push notifications), and a payment processor for restaurant billing. These providers only receive the information needed to perform their function and are contractually restricted from using it for other purposes.
Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of SnapYummy, our users, or others.
Business transfers: If SnapYummy is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
4. Your Choices and Rights
